The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s (NSSF) SHOT Show was simply HUGE. I fed off the energy the entire week and in my opinion, it was the best SHOT Show yet! I remember going to my first SHOT Show when I was in the Army. Members of the Army Marksmanship Unit scored entry because it was so close to home, in nearby Atlanta, Georgia.  I recall walking through the aisles oh so many years ago in complete awe. So this is the shooting, hunting and outdoor industry!  Even though I had been to plenty of gun shows when I was a kid, it was like nothing I had ever seen. Living in northeastern Montana, I don’t exactly have many gourmet hot spots to frequent. Since moving here cooking has become a necessity, but it is also a hobby I enjoy. It also allows me to combine my love of hunting with experimenting in the kitchen.

I call my recipes my “Field To Fork” creations. I have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving – a wonderful husband, delightful daughter, amazing family, great friends, the support of awesome companies – SO much to be thankful for. I am especially thankful for my parents. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for my mom and dad. Both my parents have been incredibly supportive, but it was my dad who introduced me to the world of competition shooting and hunting.

I’ve been a whitetail hunter since I was young. Moving to Montana and living not too far from the Milk River I’ve had some memorable seasons filling the freezer. I enjoy the peaceful nature of whitetail hunting – watching the deer, learning their patterns and the challenge of being completely still and silent.

In Montana you get one “A” tag. It’s good for either a whitetail or a mule deer buck. You can also apply for antlerless tags based on the species and region but when it comes to hunting a buck, you have to choose which species to take. … Read the full story
