Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 929 Makes Shooting Gallery List

“Significant” seems such a stuffy word for a revolver that’s so pew-pew packed with awesome. How about get me a bib drool worthy? Or, you know you want one real bad, the kind of “real” that drags on when you say it? Or, even uh, just 2 words… Jerry Miculek? Whatever you want to call it, this “significant” revolver is totally on my wish list!

Smith & Wesson®Performance Center® By  Model 929 Named ‘Most Significant Handgun of 2014’ by ‘Shooting Gallery’

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 20, 2015) — Smith & Wesson Corp. announced today that “Shooting Gallery” has named the Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 929 as the “Most Significant Handgun of 2014”. Built to the specifications of Smith & Wesson Champion Jerry Miculek, the signature model that bears his name was selected for the award based on its uniqueness and its impact on revolver-based competitions.

Now in its 15th season, the “Shooting Gallery” hosted by Michael Bane, presented the award to Smith & Wesson during the annual Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show®) in Las Vegas, Nevada. After evaluating all the handguns of the previous year, the team at “Shooting Gallery” made their selections without accounting for sales numbers, but instead focused on firearms that delivered a significant improvement, created a change in the marketplace or demonstrated a unique direction.

“We’ve seen a renaissance of interest in revolvers and revolver shooting over the last couple of years,” said Michael Bane, Host and Executive Producer of “Shooting Gallery.” “The first time I shot this Smith & Wesson revolver I was amazed at what a leap forward it created. The Model 929 is a truly unique product that literally revolutionizes revolver competition.  It also didn’t hurt to film Jerry Miculek shooting it at 1,000 yards for ‘Shootout Lane’, our newest series, either! It truly is a magnificent gun.”

Chambered in 9mm, the Model 929 Jerry Miculek Signature Model is a high-tuned 8-shot revolver engineered by the master gunsmiths in the famed Smith & Wesson Performance Center. The revolver features a 6-1/2 inch barrel with removable compensator along with a stainless steel frame and a titanium alloy cylinder which helps keep the weight down to 44.2 ounces. Other popular features of the 929 include a glass bead finish, chrome trigger with stop, cylinder cut for moonclips, Jerry Miculek signature, chrome teardrop hammer and ergonomic synthetic grips. The Model 929 also features a Performance Center hand-tuned action for a one-of-a-kind single and double-action trigger pull

“This revolver has been a dream of mine for over 15 years,” said Smith & Wesson Champion Jerry Miculek. “Thanks to the hard work and craftsmanship of the staff in the Performance Center, that dream became to a reality last year. I couldn’t be more excited with the outcome as this revolver is certainly in a class of its own.

Tony Miele, Business Manager of the Smith & Wesson Performance Center, said, “We are honored to have our Model 929 selected for this award.  When we first envisioned the ability to combine two legendary names like Smith & Wesson and Jerry Miculek into one firearm, we had a feeling the results would speak for themselves.  On behalf of all the master gunsmiths working in the Smith & Wesson Performance Center, I would like to thank Michael Bane and his crew for this tremendous accolade.”
