Hey everyone! Just a quick courtesy post to let you know that I am shutting down comment capability on my blog. Why? I hate to get all, “my site, my rules” but this is, after all, my site so… Here are my reasons:
- It’s not you, it’s me! I don’t have a social media manager, agent or even a bag bearer! Shocking, I know. I am a one woman show and between trying to be all that I can be in the shooting sports, what I do on the interwebz, and everything that’s involved raising two wee ones, I simply don’t have a lot of time to answer comments.
- I heart social! I share all my content on sites like Facebook and Twitter. These are great places to have conversations. Plus, the vast majority of my blog peeps are there anyway. It just makes sense to use social media to engage in conversation, you know, in a social kinda way.
- Spammers stink. For each awesome comment I get from a real live person, I get 20+ spammy spammeisters who try to plug everything from designer purses to discount shoes to the latest greatest graphics and video gizmos. I hate weeding through junk ads.
- Meanies, creepies and the overzealous opinionated folks that suck the joy from the blogosphere. It’s very rare, but I do get a few real gems – people who love to use profanity, hunting haters, the negative sorts who like to bring others down and those who think my blog is a place where they can post their anti-gun rants. Um, if you can’t have a rational conversation about guns, shooting sports and hunting, why are you following anyway?
Now, if whatever I post moves you so much that you just have to let me know what you think and you don’t want to put it out on social media, please feel free to email me. I get a ton of email, but I will try to get back to you as soon as I can. Check out my disclaimer and disclosure page for general commenting rules that I use on social media. Maybe in the future I will change my mind and restore commenting, but for now I hope you enjoy the posts. Thanks for understanding!
